Bap, Jodhpur (2001) – Doosra Dashak

FED initiated work in Bap in 2001. It has covered 122 villages working with 10911 adolescents in the block.

Bap is situated in Jodhpur district, with 32 Gram Panchayats and 228 villages. The block has a population of 2,04,251 spread across 4386 SqKms. It has a low literacy rate of 43%. SC, ST and Muslim constitute nearly 40% of the population. The sex ratio of Bap is 897 which is lower than Rajasthan state average of 928. The child sex ratio (0 – 6 years) is 815 while the Rajasthan average is 888. In the district (rural), around 23% girls marry below 18 years of age. Around 37 percent girls aged 15 to 19 years become pregnant, leaving the youngest girls at high risk of death during child birth.
